Restorative Practices in Corrections

Restorative justice approaches which seek to address the context of offending behaviour and minimise re-offending are currently under consideration by the Community Correctional Services Branch of Corrections Victoria, a business unit of the Victorian Department of Justice. Corrections Victoria is responsible for the management of the State's adult prison system, as well as offenders serving adult community-based orders.

Corrections Victoria is monitoring restorative justice initiatives with adult offenders which are already under way in both interstate and overseas correctional jurisdictions. These initiatives usually take the form of victim-offender mediation programs.
