Hear and discuss updates from advocates, administrators, & facilitators:

  • Amanda Lutz: Manager, Restorative Justice Unit, ACT Department of Justice & Community Safety on:
    The ACT Restorative Justice Unit, which is taking referrals from the Canberra Magistrates Court of cases involving adult offenders, including the first case which involved an offender who is in custody awaiting sentencing.
  • Daniel Clements: General Manager, Jesuit Social Services on:
    Restorative practices across The Brosnan Centre’s Diversion and School based programs.
  • Russell Jeffrey: Manager, Community Conferencing, Neighbourhood Justice Centre on: 
    Engaging various stakeholders (including youth) in the community to proactively address conflict & common concerns together;
  • Claire Seppings: Churchill Fellowship Recipient, on:
    Ex-prisoners/Offenders as peer mentors in reintegration models;
  • Victims Support Agency on:
    The experiences of victims involved in RP programs in the justice system.

A panel and audience discussion will follow  in which we hope to identify:

  • Common features and lessons from programs;
  • What’s required to sustain effective practice;
  • How colleagues in different programs can best support each other.
