  • 23 October 2013
  • 9:30 AM - 2:30 PM
  • Fitzroy Town Hall, 201 Napier St, Fitzroy

VCOSS and the Youth Affairs Council of Victoria (YACVic) invite you to help us progress key recommendations from our research Building the Scaffolding: Strengthening Support for young people in Victoria
The forum will provide an opportunity for organisations that provide services to young people to:

  • hear about the key findings and recommendations of the research
  • learn more about current Victorian government initiatives of relevance to these findings and recommendations
  • identify strategic opportunities for further advocacy in the areas of:

                      - area-based governance and service planning
                      - strengthening support for children aged 8-14 in the ‘middle years’
                      - outcomes measurement – for both individuals and organisations.

Speakers include:

  • Tracey Martin, Manager Youth Support Service Southern and Eastern Region, Youth Support and Advocacy Service (YSAS)
  • Kim Wilson, Manager, Youth Partnerships Secretariat, Department of Education and Early Childhood Development
  • Cathie Nolan, AEDI Project Manager, Department of Education & Early Childhood Development and Victorian State Convenor, Australian Research Alliance for Children & Youth (ARACY)
  • Dr Connie Spinoso, Manager, Outcomes for Children and Young People, Department of Education and Early Childhood Development

Who should attend? This forum will be of interest to organisations that provide services to young people. It is not a practice based skills development forum but will focus on a strategic discussion to assist YACVic and VCOSS to progress recommendations from the ‘Building the Scaffolding’ report.
